As we mentioned a while back, Dimension Films has sealed a deal to acquire North American distribution rights to the videogame-based action flick Dead or Alive helmed by Corey Yuen. The movie is based on Tecmo's bestselling game franchise.

The films stars relatively unknowns: Devon Aoki, Sarah Carter, Natassia Malthe, Jaime Pressly, and Holly Valance as action leads.

From first glance, it has hints of a low-grade "Charlie's Angels meets Mortal Kombat" (not a good thing) but hopefully the full-length feature will prove to do the popular DOA video game a bit more justice thank that.

On the upside? The cast also boasts martial arts notable Collin Chou of The Matrix Reloaded. He is also currently playing in Jet Li's Fearless (see below).

In any case, Cory Yuen has quite the proven track record in the action genre so he may be able to pull off the action, at least, successfully.
